Elderberry Fire Cider

I think I speak for us all when I know we are all wanting a daily dose of medicine to keep colds, flus and viruses away! Fire Cider has been used and shared by herbalists for generations to raise immunity and promote health.

It can be used as a daily tonic to warm the body, ward off sickness and aid in circulation.

In this batch I used:

1/2 cup grated fresh horseradish root (can be hard to find - so you can omit this!)

1/2 cup chopped white onion

1/4 cup chopped garlic

2 inches chopped turmeric

1/4 cup grated ginger

2 TBS dried elderberries

Organic Apple Cider Vinegar

*local honey to sweeten

You can get creative and add or substitute any ingredients you wish! Rosemary, orange peels, jalapeño peppers, cayenne peppers, and thyme are quite popular.

Place ingredients in jar and fill jar with Apple Cider Vinegar. Place wax paper under lid and seal tight! Store in a warm spot and shake the jar everyday for 3-4 weeks.

When ready, strain the herbs and add honey to taste! The honey will help sweeten, moisten and cool, as it has quite a bit of heat!!

Store in fridge for a few months. Enjoy a tablespoon daily - or more if you feel anything coming on! I will up the dosage to a few teaspoons per day if I feel something coming on - for faster recovery.

You can certainly take it solo - as a wellness shot. Adding to salad dressings or sprinkling over roasted vegetables is delicious, as well.
